The job: off-books neural coding work requiring her specific expertise. The fee is triple her monthly income. She says yes before she finishes reading the brief.

Eve is escorted through the clinical cold of the Spire into a high-security vault. She sees Kael for the first time: 6'4" of silent, motionless titanium. She is told to perform a deep-level factory reset. She opens her kit and begins.
